The Environmental Change Institute is seeking to appoint a hydrological researcher to join a major programme of research on the interactions between the environment and human health, called LEAP (Livestock, Environment and People), which is funded as part of the Wellcome Trust’s Our Planet Our Health programme.

This research post will be focussed upon the interactions between water, agriculture and food health, focussing on both water quantity and water quality. We wish to generate new empirical and model-based insights into the impacts of livestock production on water quality and quality, and provide evidence of the possible benefits for water security that may be achieved through curtailment of livestock production or modifications to agricultural practices. We wish to generate large-scale insights into these issues, preferably at a global scale. You will be expected to take initiative in design and implementation of research and publication of results.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable hydrological and/or integrated assessment modeller with a strong track record of publication in the scientific literature and a genuine motivation to address water challenges of global significance. You will hold, or to be close to completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject or have equivalent research experience. You will have a sound understanding of the societal challenges of water, environment, agriculture, food and health in a range of different global contexts.

An appointment at Grade 7 (£32,236 - £39,609 p.a.) may also be considered for a less experienced candidate with suitable adjustment of the responsibilities.
