Attributional Life Cycle Assessments (ALCA) track activities and inputs associated with environmental impacts through a product supply chain. ALCAs of different foods and global food system models have introduced agricultural life cycle assessments into the public realm. Four challenges related to the environmental impacts of food production, and potential ways to reduce them, need to be considered.
